    Die Versteigerung dauerte gerade mal 12 Minuten, dann stand im Mai 2012 beim New Yorker Auktionshaus Sotheby’s die neue Rekordsumme fest: 91,033,826 Millionen Euro (107 Millionen Dollar zuzüglich des Zuschlags für das Auktionshaus) für den letzten sich bis dato in Privatbesitz befindlichen Schrei von Edvard Munch (1863-1944). 70 Jahre lang befand sich das Werk im Privatbesitz der Olsen Familie. Thomas Olsen, ein Nachbar Munchs und Nachkomme der großen norwegischen Reederei-Dynastie, war nicht nur ein Freund, sondern auch einer der größten Förderer des Künstlers.
