Ob nun die zahlreichen Katzenvideos auf Youtube, komplette Websites, die einzig dem Thema Katze gewidmet sind, oder die mit mehreren Internetpreisen dekorierte Grumpycat – das Internet ist voll von allen möglichen Inhalten, die sich in irgend einer Weise mit den Vierbeinern beschäftigen. Man fragt sich, woher dieses Phänomen kommt und was es über uns aussagt. Es ist eine Mischung aus Nerd-Humor, gegenseitiger Zuneigung und Popkultur, die das ganze bisweilen so bizarr erscheinen lässt.

Feline Inspiration
Cats: like Marmite, Kanye West and reality TV they tend to polarise opinions. To detractors they’re cold, calculating, sinister beings who use humans for food and attention. To cat lovers, the very traits that irk the haters – their cool countenance, air of superiority and unwillingness to be stroked if not in the mood – are all signs of character, which opposes the dogged subservience of their canine rivals (to the cat lover, dogs are just a little too…eager to please). Swagga like Us
When T.I. and Jay-Z sang about their unmatched amount of swagga in “Swagga like Us”*, I don’t think they imagined that John Singer Sargent’s niece Rose-Marie Ormond is also known for swagger. Swagger, or grand manner, is used for paintings that suggest noble qualities through visual metaphors, and Sargent is especially known for his swagger portraits. One of his many swagger portraits is The Cashmere Shawl featuring his niece Rose-Marie.
