Ukiyo-e („Bilder der fließenden Welt“) ist die Bezeichnung für eine in der glanzvollen Edo-Ära (1605-1868) entstandene japanische Kunstbewegung. Der diesen Drucken verliehene hedonistische Name war als ein ironischer Kontrast zu der buddhistischen Astralebene der „leidenden Welt“ gemeint.
