The Pop Art Tradition – Responding to Mass-Culture

    September 14, 2021 / 0 Comments

This book offers a radically new perspective on the so-called ‘Pop Art’ creative dynamic that has been around since the 1950s. It does so by enhancing the term ‘Pop Art’ which has always been recognised as a misnomer, for it obscures far more than it clarifies. Instead, the book connects all the art in question to mass-culture which has always provided its core inspiration.

    J.M.W. Turner

    July 9, 2018 / 0 Comments

    There’s that light…

    January 26, 2015 / 0 Comments

Do you know what the last sentence of Joseph Mallord William Turner – incontrovertibly the greatest British painter of all time – was? “The sun is God.” The last words of a real genius! They sum up not only his beliefs, but also his notion of art. People call him the “painter of light”. They could just as well call him the “painter of the sea”. Perhaps they should go for “the painter of the sea AND WHOA DO YOU SEE THAT LIGHT?!” From February 24 to May 24, the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles is hosting one of the biggest Turner exhibitions that has ever been, focusing…

    El pequeño gran país

    April 16, 2013 / 0 Comments
