    Da nostri giorni si vede principalmente donne nude in arte, pero è importante precisare che prima il XIXo secolo, l’uomo nudo stava rappresentato molto di più. Perchè l’uomo piuttosto che la donna ? Perché  rappresentava il canone di bellezza, la perfezione. Gli uomini dipinti o scolpiti (specialmente durante il Rinascimento) stavano in generale molto virili, muscolosi, robusti in posizioni sensuali. Dal XVIIo secolo, sapere realizzare un nudo maschile rappresentava la finalità di una formazione per un’artista. J’aimerai savoir exactement à quel moment les hommes rassemblés autour d’une table, se sont dit : « Tiens, on va mettre une jolie fille toute nue. Elle va vendre ».
