Der untenstehende Text ist ein Auszug aus dem Die Kunst Indiens von Vincent A. Smith, herausgegeben von Parkstone International. Beim Thema Indienforschung muss man wegen der hier zu behandelnden enormen Materialvielfalt eine deutliche Zurückhaltung üben. Angesichts dieser Komplexität habe ich mich auf eher subjektive Ergebnisse gestützt, die auf meinen persönlichen Erfahrungen und Interpretationen beruhen und daher mehr oder weniger unwissenschaftlich sind. Spricht man von Indien, einem Land, das mit seiner enormen Größe dem Betrachter mehr Schönheit bietet als viele andere Länder der Welt, so ist ein beschreibender Tonfall durchaus gerechtfertigt. Der Subkontinent Indien ist ein ungemein vielfältiges Land und kann daher weder ethnologisch noch geographisch und erst recht nicht kulturell als Einheit betrachtet werden.…

A Searching Truth
Question for the day: What brings us to make particular choices? Choices which range from our music preferences to major life decisions? Religion is one such important life choice. Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism… the Big 5 (in terms of the most well-known religions). Today I shall be looking at Buddhism. What is the draw?
