Mucha: Die Roten Rosen aus Prag

    January 17, 2018 / 0 Comments

Ausstellung: Alphonse Mucha Datum: 12 October 2017 – 25 February 2018 Museum: Palacio de Gaviria, Madrid.

Rodin – Rilke – Hofmannsthal. Man and His Genius

    January 17, 2018 / 0 Comments

Exhibition: Rodin – Rilke – Hofmannsthal.  Man and His Genius Date: Nov 17, 2017 − Mar 18, 2018 Venue: Staatliche Museen zu Berlin “Writers work with words, sculptors with actions.“ — POMPONIUS GAURICUS: DE SCULPTURA (circa 1504) “The hero is he who is immovably centered.” — RALPH WALDO EMERSON Rodin was solitary before he was famous. And fame, when it arrived, made him perhaps even more solitary. For in the end, fame is no more than the sum of all the misunderstandings that gather around a new name. There are many of these around Rodin, and clarifying them would be a long, arduous, and ultimately unnecessary task. They surround the name,…

Mucha: The Red Roses from Prague

    January 16, 2018 / 0 Comments

Exhibition: Alphonse Mucha Date: 12 October 2017 – 25 February 2018 Venue: Palacio de Gaviria, Madrid Since the Art Nouveau revival of the 1960s, when students around the world adorned their rooms with reproductions of Mucha posters of girls with tendril-like hair and the designers of record sleeves produced Mucha imitations in hallucinogenic colours, Alphonse Mucha’s name has been irrevocably associated with the Art Nouveau style and with the Parisian fin-de-siècle. Artists rarely like to be categorised and Mucha would have resented the fact that he is almost exclusively remembered for a phase of his art that lasted barely ten years and that he was regarded as of lesser importance.…

Rodin − Rilke − Hofmannsthal. Der Mensch und sein Genie

    January 16, 2018 / 0 Comments

Rubens: The Spiritual Father of Botero

    January 10, 2018 / 0 Comments

Exhibition: Rubens. The Power of Transformation Date: Feb 8 − May 28, 2018 Venue: Stadel Museum The Life and Works of Peter Paul Rubens The name of the great 17th century Flemish painter, Peter Paul Rubens is known throughout the world. The importance of his contribution to the development of European culture is generally recognised. The perception of life that he revealed in his pictures is so vivid, and fundamental human values are affirmed in them with such force, that we look upon Rubens’ paintings as a living aesthetic reality of our own time as well. The museums of Russia have a superb collection of the great Flemish painter’s works.…

Arcimboldo: Die große “ABBUFFATA”: Eine italienische Tradition Von Arcimboldo bis Marc Ferrari

    November 21, 2017 / 0 Comments

Oktober 2017 — 11. März 2018 Museum: The Musée Saint Léger in Soissons, France.

Arcimboldo: La Grande “ABBUFFATA”: Une Tradition Italienne D’Arcimboldo à Marc Ferrari

    November 17, 2017 / 0 Comments

    Exhibition: Works of Louise Nevelson

    November 13, 2017 / 0 Comments

Date: September 9, 2017 – January 14, 2018 Venue: Moderna Museet Stockholm Throughout her long artistic practice, Louise Nevelson (1899–1988) explored the potential of the collage. Influenced by cubism and Jean Arp, she began early in her career to make sculptures and assemblages out of wood objects she found in the street and painted black. In the 1950s, the sculptures left their plinths and filled entire walls in a scale approaching abstract expressionist paintings. At the same time Nevelson was discovering another style in the collage, which enabled her to easily and intuitively explore subjects in smaller formats. Slips of paper, newspaper cuttings and sooty scraps of wood were combined…

Grande Exposition: Rodin at the Met: Le Pouvoir des Mains

    November 3, 2017 / 0 Comments

Grand Exhibition: Rodin at the Met: The Power of Hands

    November 1, 2017 / 0 Comments

Date: Sep 16, 2017 — Jan 15, 2018 Venue: The Met Fifth Avenue, USA Auguste Rodin At the principal annual art exhibition, the Salon, in Paris in 1898, the sculptor Auguste Rodin exhibited two enormous statues – The Kiss and the Monument to Balzac. He was fifty-eight years old and nearing the height of his fame. It was both a challenging gesture and a brave response to professional and private adversity. Originally the embracing couple in The Kiss had been envisaged on a much smaller scale to take place on a massive pair of doors commissioned from the French government for a projected new museum of decorative art. Rodin had…
