    May 29, 2025 / 0 Comments

Unveiling the hidden history of Graffiti artists on canvas

    May 27, 2025 / 0 Comments

Our journey spans the tumultuous birth of graffiti in 1970s New York, to its explosive growth and evolution. Be seduced by the visceral impact of the bright colours and intricate shapes, the hard-hitting social and political commentary, and the stories that spontaneously spring from our urban canvases.

Shelley’s Art Musings – Banksy macht Wellen in Rom

    September 22, 2020 / 0 Comments

Shelley’s Art Musings – Banksy making waves in Rome

    September 11, 2020 / 0 Comments

2020 is really just going from one difficult situation to another, isn’t it?  Many events cancelled, the potential of the second wave of Coronavirus on the horizon.  There has been odd weather, protests and political tom foolery, which has all contributed to a year like no other for everyone globally.  This thankfully hasn’t stopped creativity and heartfelt actions taking place.  We have seen people celebrating key workers, joining in unity to support Black Lives Matter and so many acts of kindness that it has made individuals realise that humans are capable of great things if we stop working against each other. This year certainly hasn’t stopped the artist Banksy from…

Shelley’s Art Scandal: Banksy has been Monkeying Around

    October 22, 2019 / 0 Comments

“Devolved Parliament” 2009 Banksy I don’t think that it has escaped anyone’s attention that currently British politics is in a state of complete and utter mayhem.  I can honestly say, being English I have never been so dismayed at those who are leading our country or watched a completely shambolic display from those who are supposed to be the voice of the people and acting on their behalf, disregard the best for their country, over their own agenda. With this in mind, it is a completely topical sale that has thrown Banksy’s seemingly prophetic painting “Devolved Parliament” into the limelight.  There have been varying reactions to this sale, which…

    Shelley’s Art Scandal : L’énigme de Banksy

    October 17, 2019 / 0 Comments

Shelley’s Art Scandal: The Enigma that is Banksy

    January 6, 2019 / 1 Comment

We have all at least heard the name Banksy and are probably all familiar with the controversial stencilled stylings that are synonymous with his name; despite the fact that while there are speculations of who he is, we don’t know for definite who he is. “Love is in the Bin” Sotheby Auction 2018 Banksy cemented his name in the art history books earlier this year, through the shredding of “Balloon Girl” while it was being auctioned at Sotheby’s. The picture went in to self-destruct mode as there was a hidden paper shredder in the frame which (if you believe what the artist said about it) was set up to destroy…

Shelley’s Art Musings: The complexities of illegal art

    March 26, 2018 / 0 Comments

In my last article, I wrote about my personal views on street art, and how I saw this as art for the masses. I briefly touched on how the majority of street art and graffiti is illegal, with only the most well-known or outstanding artists becoming almost household names and their work being commissioned to adorn walls. In a twist of fate, a news story recently broke about the complexities of this type of art and the issues it can present in terms of ownership and copyright, which presents us with a really interesting question over what is right and fair in this arena. To give you an idea of…

Shelley’s Art Musing: Street Art – an Art for the Masses

    March 13, 2018 / 0 Comments

When people talk about art, what is the first thing you thinking of? Probably pictures hanging in galleries, or sculptures out of marble.  You probably don’t automatically think of things like street art, as there is still a little bit of a stigma with some people around this type of art.  It is often thought that art is an elitist subject, but street art brings itself to its audience, coming out of the galleries, becoming easily accessible and free to see. Some people will class anything they see painted on walls as graffiti, but there is a very distinct difference between graffiti and street art.  The difference is intention. Graffiti…
