Hokusai et Hiroshige : une vague de paysages !
Katsushika Hokusaï (1760-1849) et Andô Hiroshige (1797-1858) se sont rendus célèbres grâce à leurs estampes qui ont conquis l’Orient et l’Occident. L’estampe – aussi appelée ukiyo-e et signifiant littéralement « images du monde flottant » – est une technique de gravure sur bois qui permet de produire des images bon marché et facilement diffusables. Si cette technique existe depuis le XIIIe siècle, c’est vers le milieu du XVIIe siècle que les premiers sujets profanes apparaissent. Faszination eines Berges
Im Jahr 1830 befindet sich ein Mann um die 70 Jahre in der näheren Umgebung eines gewaltigen Vulkans, von dessen Anblick er fasziniert ist. So beginnt dieser Mann, ein Künstler, der seine Bilder selbst mit „der vom Zeichnen Besessene“ unterschreibt, in mehreren Serien diesen Berg – Wahrzeichen und Sinnbild eines ganzen Landes – festzuhalten. Sein Name: Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849), einer der bekanntesten Ukiyo-e-Künstler Japans. Ukiyo-e kann im Deutschen mit „Bilder der fließenden Welt“ übersetzt werden. Ein Künstler zwischen Genie und Wahnsinn
Wieviel Wahnsinn braucht es, um ein Genie zu sein? Am Beispiel Vincent van Goghs kann dieser Frage aufgrund seines ungewöhnlichen Lebens nachgegangen werden. “Going Dutch”: a phrase which is most commonly associated with splitting the bill when going out to dinner. Personally, I find that this is one of those phrases which we all use, and don’t really think about why we use it. Vincent Van Gogh: A man of many talents…and many mysteries. Here’s a small list of ‘did you know…?’: That he was a teacher? That he was a missionary? That he was a late-bloomer, artistically?
