The Devil holds the strings which move us!

    October 11, 2022 / 0 Comments

Satan, Beelzebub, Lucifer… the Devil has many names and faces, all of which have always served artists as a source of inspiration. Often commissioned by religious leaders as images of fear or veneration, depending on the society, representations of the underworld served to instruct believers and lead them along the path of righteousness.

Tomber amoureux (Love – Version française)

    June 24, 2021 / 0 Comments

Shelley’s Art Musings – Spotlight on Auguste Rodin

    December 7, 2020 / 0 Comments

There are many historical events that have happened in November, on the 12th November 1944, 32 British Lancaster bombers finally sank the German battleship, the Tirpitz after 2 years of trying.  On the same day in 1946 the first drive through bank was opened in the USA.  Also, on this day in 1840 Auguste Rodin was born and would change the face of sculpture for those who would be set to follow. The founder of modern sculpture was born in Paris and was largely self-educated until he attended the Petite Ecole at the 14.  He had started to teach himself to draw at the age of 10, which held him…

Rodin − Rilke − Hofmannsthal. El hombre y su genio

    January 19, 2018 / 0 Comments

Rodin – Rilke – Hofmannsthal. L’homme et son génie

    January 17, 2018 / 0 Comments

Exposition: Rodin – Rilke – Hofmannsthal.  Man and His Genius  Date: Nov 17, 2017 − Mar 18, 2018 Lieu: Staatliche Museen zu Berlin « Les écrivains s’expriment par des mots… mais les sculpteurs par des actes. » — Pomponius Gauricus, De Sculptura (vers 1504).

Rodin – Rilke – Hofmannsthal. Man and His Genius

    January 17, 2018 / 0 Comments

Exhibition: Rodin – Rilke – Hofmannsthal.  Man and His Genius Date: Nov 17, 2017 − Mar 18, 2018 Venue: Staatliche Museen zu Berlin “Writers work with words, sculptors with actions.“ — POMPONIUS GAURICUS: DE SCULPTURA (circa 1504) “The hero is he who is immovably centered.” — RALPH WALDO EMERSON Rodin was solitary before he was famous. And fame, when it arrived, made him perhaps even more solitary. For in the end, fame is no more than the sum of all the misunderstandings that gather around a new name. There are many of these around Rodin, and clarifying them would be a long, arduous, and ultimately unnecessary task. They surround the name,…

Cy Twombly: Seeschlacht mit dem Wachsmalstift

    April 27, 2016 / 0 Comments

Arshile Gorky? Lucio Fontana?
